Faculty Development Workshop Purpose and Focus
  1. To develop the expertise (knowledge, skills, and dispositions) needed to minimize or prevent specific teaching mistakes that inhibit the teaching-learning process
  2. To develop a confidence level about preventing the most common teaching mistakes
  3. To develop an awareness of one’s own teaching persona and effectiveness
Overview

This faculty development workshop will:

  1. Initially, discuss at least three major reasons why educators make mistakes in teaching
  2. Focus on the 100 common teaching mistakes discussed in the manual, portions of which may be viewed at Workshop Manuals.
  3. Explore the potential problems these mistakes may create
  4. Share specific preventative strategies both new and experienced educators may implement almost immediately.
